Daily Prayers

Introduction

What follows are my favorite daily vocal prayers. I'm including them here so that you can take inspiration from them. Pick out the prayers you like, add to your own routine, and leave the rest!

These are mostly traditional prayers, with the exception of a few I wrote myself (taking inspiration from traditional prayers), and many are indulgenced. Notes regarding each of the prayers are included in the footnotes at the bottom of each section.

The amount of prayers you see here may seem like a lot, but it did not start out this way. I gradually worked up to this, starting by reciting the rosary every day, then adding the Auxilium Christianorum prayers, then slowly adding one new prayer at a time.

It is possible to have a strong prayer life, even if you are a very busy mother!

In my experience, prayer gives me "wings" to carry me through the day. The more time I spend in prayer, the more time I seem to have. My day goes more smoothly, and I am not so tired or overwhelmed.

That's not to say that you won't have challenges, but the challenges will seem light. Every burden is lighter and sweeter when you make time to pray!

I should note that I don't usually get through every single prayer you see listed here every day. Fulfilling your duties according to your state in life (for us housewives, that means putting food on the table, doing the dishes, changing diapers, etc.) are equally important, and can be even greater prayers in and of themselves when offered to God with love!

I hope this list is helpful. For even more prayers, grab my prayer book.

God bless,

Mary

Basic Latin Prayers

Some of the indulgenced prayers below have a few basic prayers in Latin, so I am including the words here for your reference.

Signum Crucis (Sign of the Cross)

In nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti. Amen.

Pater Noster (Our Father)

PATER NOSTER, qui es in caelis, sanctificetur nomen tuum. Adveniat regnum tuum. Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie, et dimitte nobis debita nostra sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris. Et ne nos inducas in tentationem, sed libera nos a malo. Amen.

Ave Maria (Hail Mary)

AVE MARIA, gratia plena, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc, et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.

Gloria (Glory Be)

GLORIA PATRI, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto. Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper, et in saecula saeculorum. Amen.

Per Dominum (Conclusion of Prayers)

If the prayer is directed to the Father:

Per Dóminum nostrum Iesum Christum Fílium tuum, qui tecum vivit et regnat in unitáte Spíritus Sancti, Deus, per ómnia sǽcula sæculórum. Amen. (Through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.)

If it is directed to the Father, but the Son is already mentioned at the end:

Qui tecum vivit et regnat in unitáte Spíritus Sancti, Deus, per omnia sǽcula sæculórum. Amen. (Who lives and reigns with you and the Holy spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.)

If it is directed to the Son:

Qui vivis et regnas cum Deo Patre in unitáte Spíritus Sancti, Deus, per ómnia sǽcula sæculórum. Amen. (You live and reign with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.)

Morning Prayers

Holy Face Prayer Upon Waking

Kiss an image of the Holy Face of Jesus1 and say:

Lord, show us thy Face, and we shall be saved.

Sealing Prayer of Protection

Sign yourself (with holy water if possible) saying:

I ask Jesus to seal me in His most Precious Blood against any and all incursions of the evil one, in particular against any clinging, familial, familiar or retaliating spirits, in the Name of the Father and of the Son ✠ and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Morning Offering

Based on three revelations of Our Lord to St. Mechtilde and two mystics2

Dear Lord, I adore thy Sacred Heart, which I desire to enter with acts of love, praise, adoration, and thanksgiving. I offer Thee my own heart as I sigh to Thee from its very depths, asking that Thou will worketh through me in all that I do this day; thus may I draw Thee closer to me than Thou wert before. I offer Thee all the crosses and sufferings of the world, in union with thy life on earth, in expiation for sins. Please join my every action and heartbeat to the pulsations of thy Heart. I unite all my works of this day to those labors Thou didst perform while Thou wert on earth, bathing them in thy Precious Blood, and I offer them to the Heavenly Father so that many souls may be saved.

Desire to Gain Indulgences

O my Jesus, I desire to day to gain every indulgence and merit I can and I offer them, together with myself, to Mary Immaculate, that she may best apply them in the interests of thy Most Sacred Heart.

An Act of Faith

O MY GOD, I firmly believe that Thou art one God in Three Divine Persons, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. I believe that Thy Divine Son became Man, and died for our sins, and that He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because Thou hast revealed them, Who canst neither deceive nor be deceived.

An Act of Hope

O MY GOD, relying on Thy almighty power and infinite mercy and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of Thy grace, and Life Everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.

An Act of Charity

O MY GOD, I love Thee above all things, with my whole heart and soul, because Thou art all-good and worthy of all love. I love my neighbor as myself for the love of Thee. I forgive all who have injured me, and ask pardon of all whom I have injured.

Act of Rejection

I completely and utterly reject, with the full force of my will N. (insert any disorder one is experiencing or any evil one has committed). I do this in the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary and in the Name of the Father and of the Son ✠ and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. (Thrice)

Guardian Angel Prayer

Saint Gertrude (with a small addition3)

O most holy angel of God, appointed by God to be my guardian, I love thee and I give thee thanks for all the benefits which thou hast ever bestowed on me in body and in soul. I praise and glorify thee that thou condescended to assist me with such patient fidelity, and to defend me against all the assaults of my enemies. Blessed be the hour in which thou wast assigned me for my guardian, my defender and my patron.

Help me to recall my resolutions throughout this day, especially in those moments when I am being tempted to sin. Reveal to me my primary defect and humiliate me, so that I may overcome all of my vices and grow in every virtue.

In acknowledgement and return for all thy loving ministries to me, I offer thee the infinitely precious and noble heart of Jesus, and firmly purpose to obey thee henceforward, and most faithfully to serve my God. Amen.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Cardinal Mercier

For five minutes control your imagination and close your eyes to all the noises of the world in order to enter into yourself. Then, in the sanctuary of your baptized soul (which is the temple of the Holy Spirit) speak to that Divine Spirit, saying to Him:

O Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul, I adore Thee. Enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me, console me. Tell me what I should do. Give me Thy orders. I promise to submit myself to all that Thou desires of me and accept all that Thou permits to happen to me. Let me only know Thy Will.

Prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas to Blessed Virgin Mary

O most blessed and most sweet Virgin Mary, full of mercy, to thy compassion I recommend my soul and body, my thoughts, actions, life, and death. O my Lady, help and strengthen me against the snares of the devil; obtain me true and perfect love, with which to love thy most beloved Son and my Lord Jesus Christ with my whole heart, and after Him to love thee above all things. My Queen and Mother, by thy most powerful intercession, grant that I may persevere in this love until death, and after death be conducted by thee to the kingdom of the blessed.

Petition for St. Joseph’s Blessing

Bless me, Oh dearly beloved father, St. Joseph; bless my body and my soul; bless my resolutions, my words and deeds, all my actions and omissions, my every step; bless all that I possess, all my interior and exterior goods, that all may redound to the greater honor of God. Bless me for time and eternity, and preserve me from every sin. Obtain for me the grace to make atonement for all my sins by love and contrition here on earth, so that after my last breath I may, without delay, prostrate at thy feet return thee thanks in heaven for all the love and goodness thou, O dearest father, hast shown me here below. Amen.

Nine Days Novena to St. Joseph4

Oh, St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God. I place in you all my interests and desires. Oh, St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession, and obtain for me from your divine Son all spiritual blessings, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. So that, having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers.

Oh, St. Joseph, I never weary of contemplating you, and Jesus asleep in your arms; I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart. Press Him in my name and kiss His fine head for me and ask him to return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls, pray for me.

Conclusion for Every Day:
Invocation of Patron Saints

This can be an ever growing list– as you learn about a new saint who you want to build a relationship with, you can add them here. For example:

Saint Elizabeth, pray for us.
Saint Rose of Lima, pray for us.
etc.

Prayer for the Dying and a Special Soul

O most merciful Jesus, lover of souls, I beseech Thee, by the agony of Thy most Sacred Heart, and by the sorrows of Thine Immaculate Mother, wash clean in Thy Blood the sinners of the whole world who are to die this day. Remember most especially the soul I spiritually adopt with the intention of entrusting him or her to Thy Shepherd's care: I beseech Thee for the grace to move this sinner, who is in danger of going to Hell, to repent. I ask this because of my trust in Thy great mercy. If it should please Thy Majesty to send me a suffering this day in exchange for the grace I ask for this soul, then, it, too, shall please me very much, and I thank Thee, Most Sweet Jesus, Shepherd and Lover of Souls; I thank Thee for this opportunity to give mercy in thanksgiving for all the mercies Thou hast shown me. Amen.

Heart of Jesus, once in agony, have mercy on the dying.

Footnotes:

1. Archconfraternity of the Holy Face members are recommended to wear on their persons a picture of the Holy Face, to kiss it devoutly the 1st thing in the morning on awaking and at night before going to sleep, to consecrate their actions during the day to the divine Face, and to resolve to perform them in its presence and before its eyes. Learn more here.

2. "When you awake, enter at once into My Heart, and when you are in it, offer My Father all your actions united to the pulsations of My Heart...If [a person is] engaged in work of no value in itself, if she bathes it in My Blood or unites it to the work I Myself did during My mortal life, it will greatly profit souls...more, perhaps, than if she had preached to the whole world. You will be able to save many souls that way." –Our Lord to Sr. Josefa Menendez (1890-1923)

"When you awake in the morning, let your first act be to salute My Heart, and to offer Me your own...Whoever shall breathe a sigh toward Me from the bottom of his heart when he awakes in the morning and shall ask Me to work all his works in him throughout the day, will draw Me to him...For never does a man breathe a sigh of longing aspiration toward Me without drawing Me nearer to him than I was before." –Our Lord to St. Mechtilde (1241-1298)

"It is not merely by praying that souls are saved, but through the actions of even the most ordinary lives lived for God...Offer Me everything united to My life on earth. ...Offer Me all the crosses of the world. There are so many, and few think of offering them to Me in expiation for sins." –Our Lord to Gabrielle Bossis (1874-1950)

3. I have added the paragraph beginning with "Help me to recall..." because in mental prayer (it is recommended to do at least 15 minutes of mental prayer per day, aside from vocal prayer), it is important to make resolutions (i.e. specific ways that we intend to do better), but I tend to promptly forget those resolutions the very next day. So, it helps me to ask my guardian angel to help me remember my resolutions throughout the day. I've also added the request to "reveal to me my primary defect and humiliate me," upon the advice of exorcist priest, Fr. Chad Ripperger... our guardian angels know us better than we know ourselves, so who better to ask for help in rooting out our vices and imperfections!

4. This prayer was found in the fifteenth year of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In 1505 it was sent from the Pope to Emperor Charles when he was going into battle. Whoever shall read this prayer or hear it or keep it about themselves, shall never die a sudden death, or be drowned, not shall poison take effect of them; neither shall they fall into the hands of the enemy; or shall be burned in any fire, or shall be overpowered in battle. Say for nine mornings for anything you may desire. It has never been known to fail, so be sure you really want what you ask.

Communion Prayers

[From the Raccolta] To the faithful who make an act of spiritual Communion, using any formula they may choose, there is granted: An indulgence of 3 years; A plenary indulgence once a month on the usual conditions when the act is performed every day of the month (S.P. Ap., Mar. 7, 1927 and Feb. 25, 1933).

Spiritual Communion

St. Alphonsus Liguori

My Jesus, I believe that Thou art in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love Thee above all things, and in my soul I desire Thee. Since I cannot receive Thee now sacramentally, come at least spiritually to my heart. I embrace Thee as already there and unite myself wholly to Thee; do not permit that I may ever be separated from Thee.

Jesus, all my good and all my love,
Wound, inflame this heart of mine
That it may all and always burn for Thee.

Another Spiritual Communion

Raphael Cardinal Merry del Val

At Thy feet, O my Jesus, I prostrate myself and I offer Thee the repentance of my contrite heart, which is humbled in its nothingness and in Thy holy presence. I adore Thee in the Sacrament of Thy love, the ineffable Eucharist. I desire to receive Thee into the poor dwelling that my heart offers Thee. While waiting for the happiness of sacramental Communion, I wish to possess Thee in spirit. Come to me, O my Jesus, since I, for my part, am coming to Thee! May Thy love embrace my whole being in life and in death. I believe in Thee, I hope in Thee, I love Thee. Amen.

Anima Christi

Anima Christi, sanctifica me.
Corpus Christi, salva me.
Sanguis Christi, inebria me.
Aqua lateris Christi, lava me.
Passio Christi, conforta me.
O bone Jesu, exaudi me.
Intra tua vulnera absconde me.
Ne permittas me separari a Te.
Ab hoste maligno defende me.
In hora mortis meae voca me,
Et jube me venire ad Te,
Ut cum sanctis tuis laudem Te
In saecula saeculorum. Amen.

Soul of Christ, be my sanctification.
Body of Christ, be my salvation.
Blood of Christ, fill all my veins.
Water of Christ's side, wash out my stains.
Passion of Christ, my comfort be.
O good Jesu, listen to me.
In Thy wounds I fain would hide,
Ne'er to be parted from Thy side.
Guard me, should the foe assail me.
Call me when my life shall fail me,
Bid me come to Thee above,
With Thy saints to sing Thy love
World without end. Amen.

Blessed be God in His Angels and in His Saints. Amen.

May the heart of Jesus, in the Most Blessed Sacrament, be praised, adored, and loved with grateful affection, at every moment, in all the tabernacles of the world, even to the end of time. Amen.

Suscipe Prayer

St. Ignatius of Loyola

Receive, O Lord, all my liberty. Take my memory, my understanding, and my entire will. Whatever I have or possess Thou hast bestowed upon me; I give it all back to Thee and surrender it wholly to be governed by Thy Will. Give me love for Thee alone along with Thy grace, and I am rich enough and ask for nothing more.

Prayer to Overcome Evil Passions and to Become a Saint

Dear Jesus, in the Sacrament of the Altar, be forever thanked and praised. Love, worthy of all celestial and terrestrial love! Who, out of infinite love for me, ungrateful sinner, didst assume our human nature, didst shed Thy Most Precious Blood in the cruel scourging, and didst expire on a shameful cross for our eternal welfare! Now, illumined with lively faith, with the outpouring of my whole soul and the fervor of my heart, I humbly beseech Thee, through the infinite merits of Thy painful sufferings, to give me strength and courage to destroy every evil passion which sways my heart, to bless Thee in my greatest afflictions, to glorify Thee by the exact fulfillment of my duties, supremely to hate all sin, and thus to become a saint.

Prayer to Become United to God in this Life1

Dear Father, I thank Thee for having created me. I lament that I have been ungrateful to Thee, and have wasted most of my life loving the things of this world, when I should have loved Thee alone. Merciful Master, give me the grace to make up for lost time! I desire with all my heart to become as holy as Thou created me to be, because I love Thee and I want nothing more than to glorify Thee and to become wholly united with Thee!

From this day forward, I resolve never again to fall from Thy favor. Never again allow me to be separated from Thee. If I ever unintentionally hurt thy Son, correct me at once so that I may never hurt Him again.

I look forward to the moment when I have fulfilled my mission here on earth so that I may come home to Thee. On that day, when I am born into eternal life and Thou calls me before Thy throne, I hope that Thou wilt tell me that Thou hast been pleased with me. Amen.

Prayer to Be Freed from Evil Habits

Give me, I beseech thee, O Holy Spirit, Giver of all good gifts, that powerful grace which converts the stony hearts of mortals into burning furnaces of love. By Thy grace, free my captive soul from the thralldom of every evil habit and concupiscence, to restore to it the holy liberty of the children of God. Give me to taste how sweet it is to serve the Lord and crucify the flesh with its vices and concupiscences. Enlarge my heart that I may ever cheerfully run the way of Thy commandments until I reach the goal of my aspirations, the joys and bliss of Thy habitation in heaven.

Prayer of Saint Thomas More

Good Lord, give me the grace, in all my fear and agony, to have recourse to that great fear and wonderful agony that Thou, my sweet Savior, hadst at the Mount of Olivet before Thy most bitter passion, and in the meditation thereof, to conceive ghostly comfort and consolation profitable for my soul. Almighty God, take from me all vainglorious minds, all appetites of mine own praise, all envy, covetise, gluttony, sloth, and lechery, all wrathful affections, all appetite of revenging, all desire or delight of other folks' harm, all pleasure in provoking any person to wrath and anger, all delight of exprobation or insultation against any persons in their affliction and calamity. And give me, good Lord, a humble, lowly, quiet, peaceable, patient, charitable, kind, tender, and pitiful mind, with all my works, and all my words, and all my thoughts, to have a taste of Thy Holy, Blessed Spirit. Give me, good Lord, a full faith, a firm hope, and a fervent charity, a love to the good Lord incomparable above the love to myself; and that I love nothing to Thy displeasure, but everything in an order to Thee. Take from me, good Lord, this lukewarm fashion, or rather keycold manner of meditation, and this dullness in praying unto Thee. And give me warmth, delight and quickness in thinking upon Thee. And give me Thy grace to long for Thy holy sacraments, and especially to rejoice in the presence of Thy very blessed body, sweet Savior Christ, in the holy sacrament of the altar, and duly to thank Thee for Thy gracious visitation therewith, and at that high memorial, with tender compassion, to remember and consider Thy most bitter passion.

Prayers for Family & Friends

Precious Blood of Jesus

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the merits of the Precious Blood of Jesus, Thy beloved Son, my Savior and my God, for all my relations (living or in Purgatory), for my godparents and my children’s godparents, for all those in my book of intentions1, for all my friends and enemies, for my neighbors, for priests and religious, for those in need, in sickness and in tribulation, for everyone who prays for me and my family, and for all those for whom Thou knows that I am bound to pray, and willest that I should pray. Glory be to the Father, etc. Blessed and praised for evermore be Jesus, Who hath saved us with His Blood!

For Access to the Sacraments in Times of Trouble2

O God, grant to our family, and to all Catholic families, soon the grace to receive the sacraments! Do not abandon us in our time of need, most merciful Lord, but hasten to bring us thy priests to assist us, so that freed from all stain of sin, strengthened by thy graces, and nourished by thy most precious Body and Blood, we may make atonement for our sins on earth, and at death enter without delay into thy kingdom, where we desire with all the fervor of our hearts to look upon thy Holy face.

Prayer for Protection Against Chastisements3

If it pleases thy Divine Majesty to use our family in the restoration of thy Holy Church, vouchsafe to spare us from thy chastisements. We consecrate our home to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and we beseech Thee to drive far from it all the snares of the enemy. Let thy holy angels dwell therein so as to preserve us in peace. Pass over this house, spare it’s occupants, and make a path for us to a safe place if Thou wills that we should move.

Just as Thou led the Holy Family into Egypt when Herod was intent on killing thy Divine Son, send thy angels to accompany us to wherever Thou wills that we should go, where, like Noah, we will trust in thy mercy to be shielded from thy just wrath.

If it is not thy will that we survive thy chastisements, give us the grace to be admitted without delay into thy kingdom. Oh how I long to fall prostrate at thy feet and to kiss the wounds of thy passion, bathing them with tears of joy and thanksgiving! To be refused this joy, and to be rather separated from Thee, even temporarily in Purgatory, would be far more painful than any earthly suffering! Therefore, I accept everything that Thou permits to happen to us. Only grant us perseverance in suffering, perfect contrition for our sins, and large hearts to love Thee.

Most merciful Master, soon give thy angel St. Michael the order to end these tribulations. Raise up thy Holy Church from this present oblivion, so that thy Holy Name may be praised throughout all the earth once again!

For Vocations & Holy Descendants4

O God, bless us with a large family. Bless us with many holy children with many vocations among them for thy glory. I offer [names of children], and any other children Thou sees fit to give us, to Thee for Thy service. They are thine; do with them what Thou wilt.

O God, grant that at least one of our sons may become a priest or religious brother, and at least one of our daughters a religious sister. We want to live as good Christians, and to guide our children always to do what is right, so that we may receive the grace, O God, to be allowed to give Thee a holy priest, brother, or sister!

If Thou calls any of our children to married life, protect their innocence and purity. Preserve their virginity until marriage. Send them virtuous husbands and wives, and bless them with many holy children, so that our descendants may give Thee glory by filling the courts of Heaven.

Conclusion for Every Day:
For Provided Deaths and to Become Saints6

Lord, Thou art the Just Judge, the avenger of the wicked, the Advocate of the Just. I beg in thy mercy for final perseverance, holy and provided deaths for all the members of this family. I beg Thee not to allow a single member of our family to betray Thee as did Judas, and I beg Thee not to allow a single member of our family to die an unprovided death.

I implore Thee, as did your pious Saint Zelie Martin, to preserve [names of children] from the stain of even a single mortal sin. If it is thy will to take one of our children in their infancy, I humbly pray that they will first receive the sacrament of Baptism, that for thy Glory’s sake we may enjoy thy perfect protection, that not a single child of ours will be refused admittance into thy Beatific Vision.

I humbly beseech Thee, through the infinite merits of thy painful sufferings, to give us strength and courage to destroy every evil passion which sways our hearts, to bless Thee in our greatest afflictions, to glorify Thee by the exact fulfillment of our duties, supremely to hate all sin, and thus to become saints. Amen.

Footnotes:

1. I like to keep a notebook where I write down all of the prayer requests given to me so I don't forget. This prayer has been modified to include reference to those intentions, so I can always include them, even when I don't have time to read each intention individually.

2,3,4,6. These prayers were composed by myself, with inspiration and excerpts from traditional prayers.

5. According to exorcists, grandchildren and godchildren do NOT fall under the category of "proper authority", so one ought not to say binding prayers for them. However, you may safely pray for such persons by ASKING Jesus to bind the demon for you, rather than COMMANDING the demon to leave. To learn more, see Deliverance Prayers for Use by the Laity.

Prayer Against Satan and the Rebellious Angels

Pope Leo XIII

Most glorious Prince of the Heavenly Armies, Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in "our battle against principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places" (Ephes. 6:12). Come to the assistance of men whom God has created to His likeness and whom He has redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of the devil. Holy Church venerates thee as her guardian and protector; to thee, the Lord has entrusted the souls of the redeemed to be led into heaven. Pray therefore the God of Peace to crush Satan beneath our feet, that he may no longer retain men captive and do injury to the Church. Offer our prayers unto the Most High, that without delay they may draw His mercy down upon us; take hold of "the dragon, the old serpent, which is the devil and Satan." Bind him and cast him into the bottomless pit "so that he may no longer seduce the nations" (Apoc. 20:2).

Supplication to the Virgin of Revelation1 To Obtain Any Grace

Most Holy Virgin of the Revelation, thou who art so close to the Divine Trinity, deign we beg thee; turn thy merciful and kind glance towards us. Oh Mary! Thou art our powerful advocate before God, who even from this valley of tears will obtain graces and miracles for the conversion of sinners, grant that we obtain from thy Son Jesus, salvation of the soul, perfect health of body and the graces which we need. Grant to the Church and its head, the Roman Pontiff, the joy of seeing the conversion of His enemies, the propagation of the Kingdom of God over all the earth, the unity of all believers in Christ, peace among nations in order that we can love and serve thee better in this life and one day deserve to see and thank thee eternally in Heaven. Amen.

For the President of the United States2

O God of might, wisdom and justice, through whom authority is rightly administered, laws are enacted, and judgment decreed, assist with your Holy Spirit of counsel and fortitude the president of these United States, N. Virgin Most Powerful, thou who hast the power to crush the head of the ancient serpent with thy heel, come and exercise this power flowing from the grace of thine Immaculate Conception. Shield him under the mantle of thy purity and love, draw him into the sweet abode of thy heart and annihilate and render impotent the forces bent on destroying him. Come Most Sovereign Mistress of the Holy Angels and Mistress of the Most Holy Rosary, thou who from the very beginning hast received from God the power and the mission to crush the head of Satan. Send forth thy holy legions, we humbly beseech thee, that under thy command and by thy power they may pursue the evil spirits, counter them on every side, resist their bold attacks and drive them far from our president, harming no one on the way, binding them to the foot of the Cross to be judged and sentenced by Jesus Christ Thy Son and to be disposed of by Him as He wills. St. Joseph, terror of demons, come to our aid in this grave battle against the forces of darkness, repel the attacks of the devil and free President N. from the strongholds of the enemy. St. Michael, summon the entire heavenly court to engage their forces in this fierce battle against the powers of hell. Come O Prince of Heaven with thy mighty sword and thrust into hell Satan and all the other evil spirits. O Guardian Angel of President N., Guardian Angel of the Office of the Presidency, and Guardian Angel of America, guide and protect our president. Stand in the way of all emissaries of the devil who are scheming against him, so that he may encourage due respect for virtue and religion, by a faithful execution of the laws in justice and mercy, and by restraining vice and immorality.

R. Amen.

Prayer to Save America

O merciful God, we cry to Thee for pardon and for mercy. We are an unbelieving and perverse generation. We are disobedient, disloyal and ungrateful to Thee. We have excluded Thee from our homes, our schools, our places of business. We are no longer worthy to be called Thy children. Merciful Father, spare America! Forgive us! Save us from the scourge we deserve. Teach us Thy law, and move our wills to serve Thee today and everyday. Merciful God, please spare America!

O Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.
Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.

Prayer Before Study

Adapted from St. Thomas Aquinas

Ineffable Creator, Thou art called the true font of light and wisdom, and the origin of all things. Pour forth a ray of Thy brightness into the darkened places of my mind; disperse from my soul the twofold darkness into which I was born: sin and ignorance. Grant me keenness of mind, capacity to remember, skill in learning, insight to interpret, and eloquence in speech. May Thou guide the beginning of my study, direct its progress, and bring it to completion. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

V. Holy Mary, Seat of wisdom,
R. Pray for us.

Prayer Before Working

We beseech Thee, O Lord, to direct our actions by Thy holy inspirations, and carry them on by Thy gracious assistance, that every prayer and work of ours may begin always from Thee, and through Thee be happily ended. Amen.

V. Saint Joseph,
R. Pray for us.

Evening Prayers

Prayers of Reparation to the Holy Face of Jesus

Dear Lord, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, I (we) offer You these prayers in reparation for the sins which offend God the most in these modern times--the sins of BLASPHEMY and the PROFANATION OF SUNDAY and Your Holy Days of Obligation:

Pater, Ave, Gloria

The Golden Arrow Prayer

May the most holy, most sacred, most adorable, most incomprehensible and unutterable Name of God be always praised, blessed, loved, adored and glorified, in Heaven, on earth, and under the earth, by all the creatures of God, and by the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Amen.

Fatima Pardon Prayer

Taught to the Children of Fatima by the Angel of Peace; to be recited kneeling with forehead touching the ground.

My God, I believe, I adore, I trust, and I love Thee! I beg pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not trust, and do not love Thee! (3x)

Another Fatima Prayer

V. By thy pure and Immaculate Conception, O Mary, obtain for us the conversion of Russia, Spain, Portugal, Europe [China, America, etc.] and the whole world.

R. Amen.

Examination of Conscience

Do an examination of conscience.

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with all Its Love, all Its sufferings, and all Its merits:
To expiate all the sins I have committed this day, and during all my life.
Glory be, etc.
To purify the good I have done poorly this day, and during all my life.
Glory be, etc.
To supply for the good I ought to have done, and that I have neglected this day and during all my life.
Glory be, etc.

Say the Act of Contrition

Act of Contrition

O MY GOD, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all of my sins because of thy just punishment, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of thy grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin.

Guardian Angel Prayer

Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here. Ever this night be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.

Another Guardian Angel Prayer Before Bed

O Holy Angel, attendant of my wretched soul and of mine afflicted life, forsake me not, a sinner, neither depart from me for mine inconstancy. Give no place to the evil demon to subdue me with the oppression of this mortal body; but take me by my wretched and outstretched hand, and lead me in the way of salvation. Yea, O holy Angel of God, the guardian and protector of my hapless soul and body, forgive me all things whatsoever wherewith I have troubled thee, all the days of my life, and if I have sinned in anything this day. Shelter me in this present night, and keep me from every affront of the enemy, lest I anger God by any sin; and intercede with the Lord in my behalf, that He might strengthen me in the fear of Him, and make me a worthy servant of His goodness. Amen.

A Mother’s Prayer to the Guardian Angels of Her Children & their Patron Saints

I humbly salute you, O you faithful, heavenly Friends of my children! I give you heartfelt thanks for all the love and goodness you show them. At some future day I shall, with thanks more worthy than I can now give, repay your care for them, and before the whole heavenly court acknowledge their indebtedness to your guidance and protection. Continue to watch over them. Provide for all their needs of body and soul. Pray, likewise, for me, for my husband, and my whole family, that we may all one day rejoice in your blessed company. Amen.

[Invoke the patron saints of your children here]

Commission of the Care of Soul and Body

Into thy hands, Mary, I commend my body and my soul. I ask thee to provide for them and to protect them. I ask thee to protect them from the evil one. I ask thee enlighten my mind, strengthen my will, and refrain my appetites by grace. Our Lady and St. Michael, call down from Heaven the legions of angels under your command to protect me; I ask of thee all the things I ask of my Guardian Angel. My guardian angel, under thy intellectual and volitional protection I place my body. I ask thee to illumine my mind and refrain my appetites. I ask thee to strengthen my cogitative power, my memory and my imagination. Help me to remember the things I should and not remember the things I should not. Help me to associate the things I should and not to associate the things I should not. Give me good clear images in my imagination. I ask thee to drive away all the demons that might affect me while I sleep. Help me to sleep and, if thou should deem it prudent, direct my dreams. Help me to arise refreshed. Amen.

Night Prayer in Response to a Request from Our Lord1

Eternal Father, I desire to rest in Thy Heart this night. I make the intention of offering to Thee every beat of my heart, joining to them as many acts of love and desire. I pray that even while I am asleep, I will bring back to Thee souls that offend Thee. I ask forgiveness for the whole world, especially for those who know Thee and yet sin. I offer to Thee my every breath and heartbeat as a prayer of reparation. Amen.

An Act of Resignation

My Lord God, even now I accept at thy hands, cheerfully and willingly, with all its anxieties, pains and sufferings, whatever kind of death it shall please Thee to be mine. Amen.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I give Thee my heart and my soul.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, assist me in my last agony.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, may I breathe forth my soul in peace with thee.

V. Immaculate Heart of Mary,
R. Pray for us now and at the hour of our death,
ALL: And may the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. In the name of the Father and of the Son ✠ and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Kissing image of the Holy Face of Jesus:

Lord, show us thy Face, and we shall be saved.

1. “During the night you will rest in My Heart! My Heart will listen to the beats of yours, which will be so many acts of love and desire. Thus even while you are sleeping, you will bring back to Me souls that so offend Me…Ask forgiveness for the whole world, especially for those that know Me and yet sin; offer yourself in reparation!” –Our Lord to Sr. Josefa Menendez

“You were wondering how to use those moments when you wake up in the night. Speak to Me of love, ardently desiring your next Communion…Call Me by the gentlest names, even when you are half asleep…” –Our Lord to Gabrielle Bossis
